Applications can be submitted after specific calls, or at any time. They are considered by the Scientific Board of the ECT* at its first meeting after submission. A project can be a workshop or a collaboration meeting. Workshops last a least for a week, and two week workshops are encouraged. The optimal number of participants to a workshop is less than 40 per week. However larger participation can be allowed after approval from the Director. (The large auditorium in the Rustico can accommodate 80 participants.) Collaboration meetings last typically less than a week and involve of the order of 15 participants or less. Other formats of projects can be submitted and will be examined by the Board.
An application for a project requires the following components:
- A title for the project
- Names of organizers with addresses. Two or three organizers is a good number. One must be the Co-ordinator.
- A suggestion for dates. Projects can be run all year around.
- A scientific proposal (about 1 page).
- An outline of a programme. It should give an idea of what the organizers have in mind, and can be modified later.
- A list of about 12 key participants. Of course people cannot be expected to make firm commitments a very long time in advance, but there should be a reasonable expectation that they will come.
- Prospects for outside funding.
Applications should be submitted electronically. To do so, please LOGIN and follow the instructions.
For further information see the Guidelines for Workshop organizers
It is understood that in general a proposal submitted to ECT* is NOT being submitted at the same time to another institution. If extraordinary circumstances merit submitting the proposal to multiple institutions the situation should be explained in detail in the proposal.
